Awards for postgraduate composition students Vaughan Williams Scholarship

Background

Founded by Ralph Vaughan Williams, the RVW Trust exists primarily to assist young British composers who have not yet achieved a national reputation. The RVW Trust also promotes the works of neglected British composers of the past.

Awards for study are made annually to composers who have been accepted on Masters' courses in composition at British universities or conservatoires. Funding can be provided for a two-year period, subject to satisfactory reports during the first year of study. Awards, which can be made towards fees or maintenance costs, usually range from £1,000 to £5,000. The award made to the student who is considered to be the best applicant in any year will be the Vaughan Williams Scholarship and will be for not less than £3,000.
