The Vaughan Williams Scholarship for 2011/2012 has been awarded to jointly to Mark Simpson and Francesca Le Lohé. These awards of £4,000 are made each year to the most outstanding recipients of RVW Trust awards for post-graduate study of composition at British institutions.
Mark Simpson has recently graduated from St Catherine's College. He will now study for 2 years at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he will study with Julian Anderson.
Francesca Le Lohé is a graduate of Manchester University and will now go to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
A further 7 awards were made to post-graduate students at conservatoires throughout the UK.
In the latest round of grants a total of £99,400 was awarded to 39 projects.

The next closing date for general applications is 2 January 2012, for performances and projects taking place from March 2012 onward.
The closing date for applications for support for post-graduate composition study is 27 April 2012. An application form for these awards is available on this site.
